One of my favorite race on our home course.  It was super hot today (~90).  I ran the JV race and was hoping that my legs would not hurt as bad.  I ran the first mile at 7:00 pace and was in about 15th place and third on the team.  I just kept pushing, my legs hurt and my mind was telling me to drop out but I battled in my head and said no.  Maren passed me at about 1.5 miles on the hills.  I passed Abby just past 2 miles then Daphne right after that.  I kept pushing hard and not letting my mind win and past Maren with 800m to go.  My mouth was super dry and legs hurt but I did not stop and ended up 1st on our team and 3rd overall for the race.  Our team won the JV race overall (we were 3,4,5,10,12)!   I ran a warmup and cool down and sat in the creek.  A great day and I got the fear from my Century race out of my head.  Earned a spot on varsity for next week's race!
